Even though i use yellow letters complete to do most of my mailings, there are times when i just want to send a few. It’s easy to do a mail merge to make a yellow letter that looks hand done. This is also a good method for those who have more time than money. The problem is how to get it printed on the lines of legal paper. One of my students came up with a method of printing on legal paper using a mail merge in word. It’s slick.
You MUST use a real stamp- no bulk mail. Everyone opens their mail over the garbage can. If it is unfamiliar and looks official- into the round file. So you have to get them curious enough to open it.
If you are totally non-techy, You can also hand write a letter using a skinny sharpie on some fancy stationary leaving out the salutation and address. You then run this thru a color printer numerous times. You will then hand write the person’s name on each one as well as the address.I know, it’s time consuming, but i am taking away your excuse about not being computer savvy.
The problem with the mail merge and the hand done one up until now is using the right envelope. You can’t use business looking ones. You have to use funky sizes that look unofficial and personal. You also have to use a hand written font. The problem is that most printers jam if you try to print multiple envelopes using ail merge. The last thing you want to do is hand write them. One of my students says he has come up with a method that allows this.
To create an A2 envelope in Office Word if you use a Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet printer, follow these steps:
On the File menu, click New.
In the New Document pane, click Blank Document.
Note: To create a blank document in Microsoft Office Word 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, click New, and then click Blank document in the Blank and recent pane.
On the File menu, click Page Setup.
Note: To open the Page Setup dialog box in Word 2007, click Size in the Page Setup group on the Page Layout tab. Then, click More Paper Sizes.
On the Paper tab, in the Paper size box, click A2 Envelope (4.38 x 5.75 in).
On the Margins tab, under Orientation, click Landscape.
I have not tried this. Try it and let me know how it works.
